BTC Celebrates 2008 4th of July with BBQ, Inter-Gender Swim Relay, Basketball, JUNIOR tennis, penny & GREASED WATERMELON dive
…
The July 4th celebration was a fine affair in the tradition of its fifty years. Perfect weather, neither foggy nor sweltering, welcomed members, guests, and grandparents. Joseph Thornton’s smooth jazz quintet (members of whom can be heard at Yoshi’s) played poolside, Karen Leong’s buffet and Bar-B-Que offered delicious picnic fare, and Jamie Pedemonte kept the keg beer and margaritas flowing. Sincere thanks
go to them, and to Brent Abel for
once again serving as the Master of Ceremony and presiding over the infamous Men vs. Women swim
relay. Next year, Ladies!
Honorable Mention goes to many others who generously gave time
and assistance to set-up, clean-up, purchases and planning: Lynn Crosby, John & Kay Lyman, Harold Knudsen, Leslie Lippman, and Jim Landes & Lynne Rolley for donating an hour to the Junior hit-around on Ct. 8. Thank you also Sam Rodriquez for being available to play with the little tykes, who all opted to hit the pool instead. Ed deSousa did a fabulous job with photography; and Geoff Hayes, as always, was indispensable. Dollar for dollar, this is the best deal in town for the 4th, and the Entertainment Committee looks forward to seeing you again next year. And thanks to Jill Boornazian for all her work in making the day possible.
