Dear Prospective BTC Applicant,

Thank you for expressing interest in joining Berkeley Tennis Club.

Founded in 1906, member-owned BTC is one of the most significant clubs in the history of American tennis and, to this day, it remains a vibrant community of tennis enthusiasts who simply love the sport.

No matter what your skill level, at BTC you’ll discover how easy it is to have fun and improve your game; to find partners to play with; a team to join; and a party or event to enjoy with your family or fellow members.

While BTC is tennis focused, with 10 hard-surface courts (nine lighted) and world-class instruction, other amenities include a 25-yard pool and heated whirlpool spa; a complete fitness center; a casual café with classic fare; and a handsome 1917 Craftsman clubhouse with an outside deck in the most spectacular setting.

Membership Application Instructions

The completed Membership Application and Applicant’s Sponsor Form should be submitted to BTC management by the Sponsor (not the Applicant).

If a prospective Applicant has no sponsor, BTC Management will notify the Membership Committee chair, who will select a BTC member “Ambassador” to meet with the prospective Applicant to discuss joining the Club. BTC Ambassadors can act as the Applicant’s sponsor.

Once a complete Application is received by BTC Management from the Sponsor, the Applicant will be notified that they have been added to the Wait List. Once on the Wait List, Applicants may be hosted by a BTC member as a tennis guest up to two times per month (other non-members are limited to once per month). The very first visit is free; subsequent visits will have the guest fee charged to the host member’s account.

Tennis Memberships

• Adult Family (35+ with children under 25 as members)
• Adult Couple (35+ married/partnered but no children as members)
• Adult Individual (35+ single or with non-member spouse/partner or children)
• Young Adult Family (25-34)
• Young Adult Couple (25-34)
• Young Adult Individual (25-34)
• Junior Individual (12-24 with no family as members)

10% Deposit – Upon submitting an application, all candidates must provide a 10% deposit on the initiation fees for their class of membership, which serves as a down-payment. If a candidate withdraws their application before being offered a membership, this deposit will be refunded in full. If a candidate is offered a membership but declines, BTC will retain the deposit.   Available Financing — Upon accepting a membership, pay half of your initiation fee upfront and finance the balance over 36 months at 5% interest.    
Note that monthly dues do not include a café quarterly minimum charge of $30 for individuals, $45 for couples and $60 for families.

Initiation Fees* & Monthly Dues

Initiation fees are nonrefundable and cannot be sold in the event that a member chooses to terminate their membership. A Young Adult member upon turning 35 will need to upgrade to a Senior Membership and pay the initiation fee difference. A junior member upon turning 25 will need to apply for the appropriate Young Adult membership and pay the initiation fee difference if accepted.
