The All Wood Classic or "Woodie" Tournament… The All Wood Classic or Woodie Tournament is played in traditional tennis whites, with white balls, and wood rackets in varying degrees of age, warpage and string condition in a round robin format. BTC member Guy Needham has been a good chap in organizing this tongue-in-cheeky event. As the round robin dwindles down to the last top scoring players, however, the competition is keen and just serious as any other tournament. Participants are regularly heard to mutter or giggle in the face of the less than expected results upon striking the ball… a grim reminder of how meticulous we had to be in preparing our strokes in the good old days. |
