PLAY. COMPETE. CELEBRATE

Berkeley Tennis Club's long tradition of first-rate competition tennis goes back to its beginning in 1906. Hall of Famers such as Hazel Hotchkiss (later Wightman), Helen Wills, and Helen Jacobs were members. Other greats such as Don Budge and Billie Jean King have competed frequently on the club’s ten courts. From 1918 to 1971, Berkeley Tennis Club hosted the Pacific Coast Championships -- the same ATP World Tour event that eventually relocated to the Cow Palace in San Francisco and the HP Pavilion in San Jose. Champions at Berkeley Tennis Club include Stan Smith, Arthur Ashe and Rod Laver.
